Permit Center
The Logan City Community Development Department is a "one-stop shop" for most permits or licenses within the City boundaries. We issue building permits, business licenses, landlord licenses, planning & zoning permits, and special events licenses. Our mission is to enhance and preserve the quality of life of Logan citizens. We make daily decisions reflective of this goal. We follow the guidelines set forth in the General Plan, Building Code, and the Land Development Code Following these guidelines not only allows us to better serve the citizens of Logan, and also ensure the safety of residents and consumers.
WHAT DO I NEED FOR A PERMIT?
Generally, most types of construction projects, including but not limited to, new construction, use changes, remodeling project, new electrical upgrades, etc., require Building Permits. New projects involving new construction or renovation work, site development, road access, new signs, the establishment of new uses, etc., generally need a Design Review Permit prior to initiating any action. If you want to open up a new business, whether in a commercial storefront or in your home, a Business License is necessary. Other permits may also be needed to start a business. Other miscellaneous projects or activities such as: building a new deck, installing a new fence, a new driveway, door to door sales, or owning rental properties usually require some type of review, permit, or license. If you are unsure whether or not you need a permit, feel free to contact the Community Development Department at 435-716-9030 or in the office located at 290 North 100 West, Logan UT 84321. Follow the links on the left side of the page to each of the individual program pages for specific information and application forms.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A PERMIT?
Permit issuance periods vary based on the extent of the project. Some projects can be fully permitted over-the-counter (which means that a return trip will not be needed). Permits that require plans will require further review. Plan review may take up to two weeks for our Plans Examiners, Planning & Zoning staff, and other applicable departments.
